" Have been using Auto Europe for many years and have always been very happy. Easy to use online, and easy to deal with on the phone. Never a problem to make changes. "
" New check-in system a good idea, but screens were not working, so staff were calling out names. We had no idea how long the list was, or if we were even on it. After almost an hour of waiting, I asked loudly if an hour wait was normal, and was told to wait my turn. Then waved to the desk, asked my name, and magically I was at the top of the list. Picking up a car takes much too long, anyway--lots of filling out redundant information that should already be on file. Other than this, I've always been happy with Europcar. "

" I had booked a mid sized SUV and was given a full sized SUV. For the first day the vehicle was stuck in the 4 x 4 mode and wouldn't shift to the 2 x 4 mode, which made the car very heavy to drive. Somehow on the 2nd day I managed to change the mode to 2 x 4 and then it was OK. I was a bit uncomfortable driving it at first but after a while got used to it and the rest of the trip was good. "

" I was nervous about picking up the car so late as the voucher said rental location was open until Midnight but their website said 11pm. However my flight arrived on time and I was able to pickup car at 10:30pm. Agent told me that opening times are seasonal and so they were open till 11pm. However she said that they do wait up to an hour after flight arrival time. I also really liked the fact that they did not charge a drop off fee. Car was great. "

Requested car was not available for two hours, so she gave us an "upgrade" to a Vauxhaul Astra diesel. The smaller Fiat would have worked better in tiny villages, roadways, and parking spaces than the Vauxhaul did. We did appreciate the much better fuel economy, though. "

Returning a car in the US takes a total of 2 minutes. Returning a car in Europe still takes close to 1 hour with stupid car inspections that flag the smallest minor scratch on a tire / wheel, etc. It takes away from an otherwise great experience. "

I had an issue picking up a car in France with Europcar where I didn't have my passport with me and was told I couldn't pick up my car without it. On one of your follow up emails you make it seem like all you needed was a credit card to confirm your pick up, but just making it more clear that you'll need a passport of license would have been helpful. " I upgraded the car at the airport b/c it appeared I was getting a fair deal (an automatic instead of a stick shift, GPS, and more room). At the airport desk, I was told it was a new car but when I started to examine it the car was full of dents and scratches. Some of them were already noted on their form but others were not. When I returned the car they said there was a defect in a tire and it was my fault. Since it was a new car it was likely a manufacturers defect but they say that I'll have to pay for it. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied. I am a frequent traveler and have never had such a bad experience. The Eurocar staff was rude and said a supervisor was not available. "

It is enough of an adjustment to drive on the other side, but shifting with the other hand just adds to the stress. Driving in big cities is not worth it as the trams and buses are very easy and convenient to use. Street signs are not easy to find so GPS is necessary. We wasted a lot of time trying to get places without a GPS. "

" Regarding Keddt / EuRopcar...I went to pick up my car at EDI on Tuesday June 21st and I was told there were no cars available. My family and I had to wait about an hour and 15 minutes for them to get a car ready. There were a large number of other people waiting for cars as well. The situation was stressful and harried. The first evening with the car I notice that there was a charge on the paperwork for insurance. A LOT OF INSURANCE. I returned the rental last night June 24th around midnight . I told him I wasnt paying for the insurance and he should guide me as to who to call. He said he would note something in the system. I will not pay an extra $400US on a $200 rental! "

" Firstly they said I had booked a "micro" size car - a Smartcar (which was incorrect I booked a "mini" - Fiat), and proceeded to try to upsell us to a larger car for double the cost. When we declined, they managed to find a mini class car for us. The car had a slow leak in one of the tires, which we did not find until after we were on the road. When we contacted instead of replacing the car they told us where we could get it fixed. Disappointed that they expected us to take time out of our holiday to wait for a repair. Plus no spare tire or jack in the car. These are all things I will now look for my next rental. "

If you have a smart phone and a road map (~7gbp for a good one) then you don't need the gps when traveling in the highlands. If you are tall and traveling to the UK do not be afraid of the economy vehicles- they have much better leg room in small cars over there! "
