Can I rent a car without a credit card in Barcelona?
Many Auto Europe customers will be surprised to learn they can book a car rental in Barcelona with a credit card on file. By working with multiple suppliers in Barcelona, Auto Europe knows which suppliers and car categories are idealist cards and won't require drivers to hand over thousands of processes.
How old do you need to be to rent a car in Barcelona?
The minimum age to rent a car in Barcelona and Spain is 21 years, although a few rental companies require drivers to be at least 23. Be sure to check with Auto Europe and your supplier if you are under 25 and looking to book a rental car in Barcelona. Drivers between the ages of 21-24 may be required to pay an additional fee, known as a "young driver surcharge," which is usually upwards of 20 Euros a day, on top of the daily rental rates.
Do I need an International Driver's Permit to rent a car in Barcelona?

" It was three hours from the time we got to the Europcar counter until we were driving away in the reserved car. Since the scheduled pickup time of 1pm and the scheduled dropoff time of 4pm required us to pay an additional day in the reservation, in the end Europcar should have refunded the extra day which they did not do. During the three hour wait at the beginning one young employee quietly took us aside and said "this company sucks". Wow, there's a statement of confidence. Anyway, we are home after an amazing trip with just the lingering frustration of poor customer service. "

" Everything was fine about our experience except the Fiat 500 had a disconcerting tendency to feel directionally unstable when passing or being passed, in wind, or passing over the pavement seams when changing lanes. In a cab I believe was also a Fiat, we felt the same thing on the way to El Prat Airport. I never really got completely used to it. I take this as a car, not an Avis, issue. Nevertheless, you might want to look into it. "

The only downside was that the car's fuel tank wasn't full and I didn't realize how low it was until I filled it the first time and the needle went much higher than where it was when I picked it up. In the last 3 years of renting cars throughout Europe I have sustain damage one way or another every time. Drivers in the cities with small streets and tight parking spaces always seem to clip you no matter how carefully I have parked. I was charged $380 u.s. last trip for a dent so small I couldn't see it except from a certain angle. Tried getting reimbursed through my credit card - a hassle. With full coverage this time I just signed it off at the rental return and I was done. Rental return was so fast and easy I didn't even know I was done. "

" I go to Spain every year for a month or more. This year I rented a car with another company because they offered a lower rate. What I didn't know was all the hidden costs, such as limited milage, wich did not appear in the contract. To make a long story short, we returned the car after a week, and rented with Auto Europe, as I had done in the past, for the rest of the month. No surprises there and a great car and service. Lesson learned. "

It was made clear that a vehicle that is not filled would be an 85 Euro charge. To my surprise, my vehicle was not full when I received it. The location of Hertz is in a parking structure. One has to walk over there, use dedicated scanners to leave and the entire process is on your own. It is not easily apparent which way one would be able to go back to the office or where to park on that busy road. I was also on a tight schedule with family waiting. I did however take pictures of the dash, it appears I am several liters short. Please contact me. "

When I called AutoEurope to make the change, I was told that the original quote was incorrect because it didn't include the drop off fee in Lisbon. They did exchange the car without fail when the first (new, Spanish-built) vehicle developed a nasty defect, but there was no complimentary upgrade offered or made available. On the other hand, they did take back and not charge for the useless and very poor portable GPS that I had rented. Generally, I was not dissatisfied, but not thrilled, either. I wish AutoEurope would use others in Spain who might provide cars with more features (no USB connectivity in either car given, cruise control on the first, but not replacement, etc.) such as perhaps GoldCar. " The booking process was great everything was exactly as was described. The pick up was smooth and easy as well as the drop off. The car was very good and we had no problems. Just one thing to us Americans, when you pick the car if it's stick shift, make sure to confirm how to put the car in reverse, sometimes the cars are Spanish cars we do not have here in the states and the reverse shift is a little different. So just ask them to show you before you leave. Very happy with the booking process and communication, as well as the pick up and drop off of the vehicle. The car was excellent and drove very well! We are extremely satisfied with your services! Thank you. "
