One-Way Fee

When you initially pick up your rental, it is important to understand that the vehicle is the property of that particular supplier's fleet of cars. Once their rental is dropped off at another location, it needs to be returned to the original renting office. So, should you prefer to drop the car off at a different site within the same country (Domestic One-Way Rental) or in another country (International One-Way Rental), you may be required to pay a fee. Domestic One-Way Fee

Often times, Auto Europe is able to confirm rentals through a supplier that doesn't charge extra for dropping the vehicle off at a different location within the same city or country. It all depends on the length of your booking and the local agencies' policies regarding domestic one-way rentals.

International One-Way Fee

Auto Europe has contracts through several different car rental suppliers throughout the world, and agencies' international one-way fees can vary greatly. Sometimes the charges will be included in your prepaid reservation, and other times the additional fee will be required upon picking up your vehicle. Young/Senior Driver Surcharge

There are many variables that come into play regarding young and senior driver surcharges. The fees and conditions are determined by the local supplier and may differ between rental carriers and countries. Once again, let one of Auto Europe's representatives assist you in booking a rental that offers the most reasonable young or senior driver fees.

Credit Card Blocking

Most suppliers will require that you provide them with a major credit card when picking up your vehicle. At the very least, a hold (think of it as a deposit) may be placed on your card for the cost of a tank of fuel. If you opt for rental car insurance through a credit card or choose coverage with a deductible, there will be a sum of money temporarily blocked on your card equal to the collision damage waiver deductible. When the car is returned in the same condition as you received it and with the pre-agreed amount of fuel, the hold is removed. You pay a little more up front, but with this option you get added peace of mind while abroad and there won't be a hold on your card for the deductible amount. Fuel

Some carriers may ask for pre-payment of a tank of fuel before handing over the keys, and others will stipulate that you must return the vehicle with the same amount of gas/diesel as was provided to you pre-rental. This information will be detailed on your Auto Europe voucher.

Snow Tires/Winterization Fee

Your prepaid rental agreement may include winterization costs, or you may be responsible for paying this fee locally. This will be outlined in your Auto Europe voucher, and you may read more about snow tires and other winter equipment. Don't assume that your vehicle will be provided to you all geared up for the snow. Let us know what your travel plans are ahead of time, and we will confirm that your specific rental needs will be all set for when you pick up the car.

Travel to other Countries

It is extremely important that you let us know all the countries that you intend to visit. Otherwise your vehicle may not be permitted to cross the border. This is particularly true if you'd like to visit eastern European destinations, as the car may need specific paperwork and/or stickers. Auto Europe will confirm with the supplier that your rental is permitted to tour all the locations you wish to visit and advise you of any local fees before we request payment for your booking.

Limited Kilometers or Mileage

Generally there is a limit on the distance you may travel daily when reserving a specialty car, and if you go over the set allowance, there will be a fee. Most basic rentals allow you unlimited kilometers or mileage, and this will be stated on your Auto Europe voucher.

Location Pick-up Surcharge

When picking up a vehicle at the airport, train station or other specific locations, there may be an additional local charge. Sometimes this is included in your prepaid booking with Auto Europe and other times a supplier may request payment of this surcharge locally. We will advise you of these fees ahead of time, and your voucher will list them as well.

Other Minor Local Fees

The rental supplier may require payment of a daily road tax, license fee or other small location-specific charges.
