Most of the island can be traveled by car, however keep in mind that traffic travels on the left hand side of the road.

    Car Rental Age Requirements in Cyprus

    To rent a car in Cyprus, you must be at least 21 years old to drive in Cyprus (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for three years. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. There is a maximum age limit. Seatbelts are mandatory in the front seat and children must be at least age 5 to be in the front seat. Child seats are mandatory for children up to age 5.

    Traffic travels on the left and headlights must be used a half and hour before sunset and a half an hour before sunrise.

    There are no toll highways on Cyprus.

    Parking meters are found in town centers and are valid for 1 hour. If you see a double yellow line painted on the curb, parking is prohibited at all times. A single yellow line on the curb is a loading and unloading zone but no parking.

    Car rental insurance varies widely, so please review the information below prior to making your reservation. Regulations of the country where you rent the car will be in effect for the duration of your rental.

    All our car rental rates include fire and third party liability insurance. Our inclusive rates also provide collision and theft coverage at an advance purchase discount. You may elect to decline collision and theft coverage. If you plan to take advantage of coverage offered by your credit card, please contact your card issuer directly for details. Specific insurance information for your reservation will be printed on your confirmation voucher.

    The following guidelines apply to rentals commencing in Cyprus.

    Cyprus Driving InformationRequired Car Rental Insurance Coverage

    Fire and third party liability insurance is mandatory and is included in all rentals. Third party liability coverage offers coverage in case of damage or injury to people or property outside of the rental car up to $78,800.

    Optional Car Rental Insurance Coverage

    Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and theft protection are included in our inclusive rates at a discount. CDW/Theft insurance, if purchased at the rental counter, costs approximately $10 - $20 per day. CDW and theft coverage reduce the deductible (responsibility of the client) to $275 to $680, depending on the vehicle type. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is available at the rental counter for approximately $2 per day. Super CDW may be offered locally to reduce the deductible. Optional insurance coverage is available with select suppliers only, rates subject to change without notice.
