Vienna is a charming port city nestled in the southwest of Austria. The breathtaking 1,441 room Schönbrunn Palace was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing. Since the 1960's exploring the palace with its surrounding grounds and gardens as well as learning of the families history has been one of the cities top attractions. The Hofburg is another former imperial palace that can be seen in the center of downtown Vienna. Since 1946, it has been the official residence and workplace of the president of Austria. Also located in the Hofburg is the Sisi Museum which offers tours of the imperial apartments and a collection of Empress Elisabeth's personal possessions. For lovers of the arts a visit to the historic Vienna State Opera House cannot be missed. The 1,709-seat Renaissance Revival venue showcases some of the most talented singers and performers in all of Europe.
