Well, Mauritius is a multi cultural country meaning that they have not just one or two dishes that is popular but several. Mauritius has a Hindou influence, therefore, Indian food is a well known type of food to try adapted to Mauritian culture. Next, you have Chinese food with Fried rice, mine bouille, Bol renversee( reverse bowl) and Boulette( a soup made of fish ball, cabbage ball, tofu, beef ball in a bowl across the country. As they also have Muslim influence in Mauritius, you will see "Briani" being sold on the corner of road. Do not forget the amazing Dal Puri and Roti which are very famous amongst Mauritian. Grab a fresh coconut water on a walk to the beach!

    If you are a seafood lover then you will love the seafood in Mauritius as they are fresh catch every morning. Fresh bakery made every morning locally and some famous treats to try are Gateau Piment, Gateau patate, Gateau banane and Gateau Manioc. Creole dish , you could taste the rougaille saucisse, cevrette and try achar which is a pickle made of fruits or veggies mix. So tasty!

With its vast landscape, waterfalls and trees, you will find this quiet place enjoyable and where you will get visited by some friendly monkeys and their babies. Bring your camera as this view is unique and breathtaking!

    5.  Head southwest to explore Chamarel

    Chamarel is like a pearl in the middle of the forest. It's beauty is extraordinary and legendary. It is located in Rivière Noire District. The seven colored earth is a natural phenomenon and a tourist attraction. The colors evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes of seven distinct colors (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). While in Chamarel check out the magnificent waterfalls that goes through the forest. Are you a Rum lover? Mauritius is known to grow to its own sugar cane which the Rhumerie of Chamarel cultivate them and makes Rums.
