When getting the car, no "snow chains" were in the vehicle. Back to the counter to ask about them and was told to get them from a guy in the parking lot. When that personnel was asked, he checked the tires and said the car had snow tires and chains were not needed. I feel this was a way to get extra charges and not presented when reserving the vehicle. Made me feel I was scammed. Also counter woman failed no to give us the ticket to exit the rental area parking lot which caused us to go back to the counter a third time. Frustrating after a long flight. "

" We have rented from Europcar in the past and have been satisfied. The agent at the counter was quite efficient and answered any questions. But the person in the garage where we picked up the car was not. He was wiping the outside of the car when we picked it up-and for a good reason--the car was very dirty on the outside- the tires had a lot of dried on dirt on them and the windows were streaky. The inside of the car was very dirty-looked as if it had not been vacuumed at all. And we had some questions about some features of the car before we drove off and he was not able to answer them all. Then we went to drive out of the garage and realized we got to an automated pay point so that the gate would let us out--the garage agent had forgotten to give us a payment card to use to activate the gate. As a result, we backed up exiting traffic for a few minutes through no fault of ours. When we dropped the car off at PSA airport, we parked in a Europcar space, marked down the space number and the odometer reading. We then went into the terminal to the Europcar desk and gave the keys to the agent. He was not interested in noting the odometer reading or hardly interested to know what space we parked the car in. My mistake and Hertz had cancelled the reservation, which I totally understand. when I asked if I could rent a car that day, the agent said no and that I would have to call Auto Europe. I told him that I did not have cell service and he told me that I would have to go back to the airport so to use wifi to make the call. That is poor customer service. Auto Europe did give me my money back for the rental...I would give them a 10! Hertz a 5 "

He asked if I had a "before" picture which I didn't but I told him that I definitely had not scraped or bumped into anything. I understand he was doing his job, but the way it came out of his mouth and the wording regarding "big problem" made me feel like he was looking for something to nail me on. "

On the plus side, my son left his sunglasses in the car, and they were at the car return counter when we came back to see if they had been found and been returned. "

" Everything was great. However given the construction in Florence I would not recommend returning cars in town and would only recommend returning them to the airport. This is what we ended up doing after not being able to get to the return office in downtown Florence. "

The attendant insinuated I would be charged for a very minot scratch caused by some brush. I paid for full coverage and do not expect to pay for anything, much less a scratch that can easily be buffed out. "

Smooth process at both locations BUT when told in France and Italy, two countries where we rented from you this trip, that the deposit amounts of ?1000 and ?500 would not be charged to my card, why did my credit card company contact me on the transaction? It affected my projected spending allowance. Not happy about this. Cars good but in France asked for small economy car and was given a Renault similar to our mid size cars...too big for French towns and garages. Will still rent thru you for still reliable service but will be more assertive in our needs in future. That deposit though is a concern and will have to be checked into once we are home. "

" Everything went easy, but I should outline several points which made me worry: 1. In Florence they wanted me to sign a bill in which there was a 65eur one way return fee. I had to show them highlighted sentence from my booking, saying all mandatory fees are listed and paid. 2. They were giving me a car with exterior damages and asking to sign inspection paper which did not mention any damage. I was careful and requested inspection of the car first. Then was that the Hertz employee said he did not know about the damage himself and corrected everything. I wondered about results, if I had not been careful. 3. In Rome, during drop-off, they gave me a final inspection paper without signature of Hertz officials. Everything was quite easy though. "

She was very difficult to comprehend, ended up buying a sim card for my unlocked cell phone and used Google along with British lady. She also did not always have correct numbers of outlets on round a bouts. A real problem trying to understand her pronoucation and incorrect information. Also the case was stolen but not the GPS which I returned today. Also the return location at Florence airport cost more than city drop off, and so very difficult to locate. We are lucky eventually after 1 1/2 hours we found it. "

" I called Auto Europe a few times and each time they were fantastic addressing my concerns, and giving me answers that proved to be 100% accurate. I even adjusted my rental one day before I was to pick up my car, and they took care of everything. "
" Picking up the car was not as much of a problem as dropping it off. Mind you, I did return it to a different hertz location. The drop off was to be open until 8 PM. When I arrived at 7:42 PM, the hertz employees had already shut down the computers and could not check me in. Basically I put everything in the night time deposit slot, and hoped that I didn't get charged for returning the car after hours. Luckily I didn't, but if 8 PM is the listed closing time, and people are still there working, you should be able to return the car to them, get a receipt, and move on with your business without problems instead of hoping everything is going to be fine, without a receipt in hand. "

The one recommendation I would have is that a technician needs to be available to spend time with the driver to help them acclimate to the car. We could not determine how to use the GPS, the AC/heat, or the radio. Those may not seem important, but it would sure make the drive much smoother. "

The office at the train station has different hours than the actual place that you return the car. Be prepared to drive around in circles for hours. The GPS does not actually lead you back to where you need to return the car. If you have other options than the Rome Train Station, please use that office instead!!! "

" They charged my credit card for $611 for the car rental. I paid AutoEurope $478 for the car rental. I dispute the charges and want the cost of the GPS rental waived as well. The GPS unit did not have the new rental car location at the airport in the address book. When we returned the car we drove in circles for 45 minutes at 5 in the morning trying to find where to return the car. We finally paid a cabbie to show us where it was and then drive us back to the airport. We nearly missed our return flight which would have completely screwed up all of our subsequent connecting flights. "
