" It is always very efficient booking a rental car in Europe with AutoEurope. Options are very clear as is cost. "

" There was chaos at the Hertz window at CTA airport. There were sequence numbers to draw but the limited staff (not enough agents on duty) were not consistently calling the numbers and people were just milling around pushing up to the counter when an agent became free regardless of having the next number or not. The whole check in process took us almost an hour with only 4 or 5 people ahead of us. Also, the agent was not able to offer me the particular car I had reserved and made a great effort to rent me an upgraded vehicle -Alfa Romeo, which I reluctantly agreed to until I got to the garage and saw how large it was and inappropriate for narrow Sicilian streets. So I switched vehicles to a Fiat 500L and the agent in the garage helped me make that switch relatively quickly. "

The clerk readily switched the vehicle for us for another, newer, better car. She could not have been nicer. It helped that we were flexible about driving a stick shift. I don't know if she would have been able to accommodate us if we had required an automatic--as she said most Americans do. "

Auto Europe was also the only company I could find after extensive internet searches that allowed me to book a zero excess rental in Sicily. The fine print of many other companies did not offer such a reservation. Also, nice to know the total cost of all the inclusions before I arrived. Very Happy. "

" The two negative issues were the long wait in line for check-in and an unexpected additional fee of 30 euros at drop-off. The check-in took 45 minutes of standing in line. The unexpected fee was listed as "oneri automb-vehic fee" (whatever that is?) plus 5 euro of taxes on that fee. On the positive side, the car pickup and drop-off were very conveniently located. The car itself was very nice, a low mileage Ford CMax diesel manual with a nav system and backup camera. Gas station on A18 near the airport made fill-up easy. No problems with drop-off, quick and efficient. "

" The counter was hard to find, you cannot follow the signs that guide you to the car rental place, were the rest of the companies are. They did not have a great selection of cars, it was hard to find a car that fit our luggage, we ended up getting a regular Fiat car that consumed a lot of gas and was definitely worth a lot less than what we paid for (I on purpose did not go for the cheapest as I wanted one with enough space to be comfortable). The staff was friendly. "

" I opted in for full coverage with my rental believing that this was priced by the rental company such that if anything happened, it would be hassle free for me. Instead, it was misleading and I was sold another 3rd party insurance, which I already have with American Express. " The car was fine, but I had difficulty in finding the agency at the Catania Airport. There was an Auto Europa that had a similar logo and wait 45 minutes to be seen then found out that they were not the right place. The logo for Dollar was very small relatively to the Hertz logo. Better Identification on the reservation and at the airport terminals would be a great help. "
