Game of Thrones Season 3 Airs 03.31.13
If you are Game of Thrones fan, the count down to the show's next debut may seem like an eternity away. While we have all been impatiently anticipating season three to air, the cast and crew have been busily filming away. Expect to see more striking backdrops visualized than in the first two Thrones series, which magnificently featured Northern Ireland, Iceland, Croatia and Malta's alluring countrysides and historic architecture.
The show's incredible scenery befittingly brings the mythical continents of Westeros and Essos to life; watch one episode and you too will be hooked on HBO's adaptation of George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire
novels. Season three promises more Medieval-esque action, new characters and an additional filming location to keep us on the edge of our seats come March 2013, Morocco. This season will portray the first half of Martin's second novel, A Storm of Swords
and will grace us with ten more clashingly intense episodes. Diehard Thrones enthusiasts know that HBO doesn't follow the original story word for word, scene for scene. In modifying book to film, the timeline of some of the novels' events have been moved around a bit to better represent Game of Throne's fantastical adventures for your TV screen. There have been rumors buzzing around the internet offering best guesses as to which scenes HBO has filmed in Morocco (the predictions are also included in the above spoiler link), but we'll leave that speculation out of this blog. We will, however, disclose the season three gossip about where these supposed new locations may likely be, as this is a travel blog after all.Photos of cast and set have been leaked to the media and have been tagged as pictures snapped from production sites in Essaouira and Ouarzazate, Morocco. Essaouira is situated about 500 km southwest of Casablanca along the Atlantic coastline, and the port city is enclosed by 18th century fortified walls. The inland, desert surrounded town of Ouarzazate is about 500 km east of Essaouira and is also home of Atlas Studios, the headquarters of one of the world's largest movie studios. Word on the web is that HBO is presently finishing up with filming Game of Thrones season three in Iceland. The Nordic country boasts surprisingly (if you haven't been to Iceland, you may be under the false impression that all you will find there is snow and ice) stunning landscapes, which are best explored by booking a rental car in Keflavik
