Road Signs of Sweden


Sweden's road signs are standardized using the Vienna Convention for danger signs, priority signs, restrictive signs, and service signs. You will also see signs that are not standardized, as they will only apply for driving in Sweden. Below are some examples of road signs you may see in Sweden.

Accident Warning A danger sign indicating an upcoming accident; proceed with reduced speed and caution.
Start Recommended Speed Limit A direction sign advising of a recommended speed limit zone has begun, which is valid until you see the next sign. (Speeds in Sweden will be listed in kilometers per hour)
End Recommended Speed Limit A direction sign advising that the recommended speed limit zone has ended. You may resume previous speed.
No Passing Tractors A restrictive sign advising that the passing of tractors is not allowed.
No Passing Customs A restrictive sign advising that passing is not allowed, as a customs post is ahead.
Consolidated Directions A directional sign that notes route numbers and directions for upcoming junctions and nearby cities.
