Road Signs of Germany


Germany, as a signing member of the Vienna Convention and Treaty, will use standardized road signs for Priority indication, information and facility advisements, and dangerous driving condition indication. Germany also utilizes road signs that are not part of the standard, that apply only within the country. Listed below you'll find examples of road signs that are only found in Germany.

German National Speed Limits A direction sign indicating the various speed limits when traveling within a city, outside a city's limits, and on the Autobahn.
Toll Road A mandatory sign indicating "Maut," or toll in English, is required for travel on a toll road.
Detour A direction sign indicating "Umleitung," or detour in English, is approaching.
Detour Ends A direction sign indicating that the detour route has ended, noted with the line struck through "Umleitung," or detour in English.
Autobahn Entrance A special regulatory sign that notes an entrance to the Autobahn route.
Autobahn Ending A special regulatory sign noting the end of the Autobahn route.
