Imad Khalidi Vows Continued Support To Travel Agents

Portland, Maine, November 8, 2001 - Imad Khalidi, President and CEO of Auto Europe was the recipient of the 2001 ASTA Allied Member Award, which was presented at the ASTA World Congress this week in New York City. The award recognizes a person or company whose contributions to travel have positively impacted the travel agency community.
"Imad Khalidi has been an outstanding leader and friend to the travel agent industry," said ASTA President and CEO Richard M. Copland, CTC. "For all of his generosity and support in our struggle against commission caps, we all owe him an enormous amount of gratitude. This award is merely a token of our appreciation."
Khalidi announced that it wasn't just Auto Europe that won the award but all travel agents nationwide due to their support. Khalidi also said that at next year's event in Honolulu he plans to auction off the award and give the proceeds back to ASTA to further benefit agents.
"Travel Agents created Auto Europe. They deserve to share this award with us," states Imad Khalidi.
As an additional gesture of Auto Europe's gratitude, Peter Rasmussen, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing announced at the World Congress that Auto Europe will increase commissions by 20% for reservations now through February 2002.
Auto Europe has stood firmly behind ASTA and the Coalition for Travel Industry Parity (CTIP) in the fight against commission caps, contributing more than $250,000 to ASTA/CTIP legislation and Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA) Platinum Donor funding.
