The global hospitality company, Hilton Worldwide, owner of hotel chains such as, Waldorf Astoria Hotels, Doubletree by Hilton, and many others, recently announced that it will be starting a new hotel brand called, Canopy. In an effort to break away from the hotel-chain model (a model where each hotel is identical in styling), Canopy plans to design each hotel so that it reflects the community or neighborhood that it resides in, making for a highly individualized experience.
Part of the process requires scouting appropriate domestic and international locations, seeking out neighborhoods and communities with a vibrant spirit to draw design inspiration from. Canopy hotels will not be found near airports, suburban malls, or any overly homogenized location that lacks its own unique cultural identity.
In keeping up with their community-based personalization, Canopy is taking large strides to separate itself from the stereotypes of most other lodging services. Each hotel will cater to the unique characteristics of its locale. Guests will note architecture, interior designs, and culinary offerings which are all in keeping with the local neighborhood and cultural history of their hotel's location. Lobbies will be designed to bring people together, embedded restaurants will source their cuisine locally, and in-hotel bars will offer regional beer, wine, and spirits.
Additional amenities include complimentary bicycles, regionally-themed welcome-gifts, and mobile phone check-ins - features which are sure to be popular with guests staying at one of the Canopy hotels.
Slated to make its debut in 2015, Canopy by Hilton Worldwide has already set its sights on 11 locations throughout the United States and abroad, including: Washinton D.C, Oklahoma City, Ok., Indianapolis, In., Savannah, Ga., Portland, Or., Ithaca, Ny., Nashville, Tn., Charlotte, Nc., San Diego, Ca., and London.
Hilton Worldwide may be on the path to changing the travel industry's "cookie-cutter" hotel offerings, with a hotel experience that caters to the more aesthetically-minded and technologically inclined travelers who find value in local sub-cultures and unique lodging experiences. Whether you find yourself exploring Portland, Oregon or discovering London, England, Auto Europe can help you find the best hotels available, and as soon as Canopy opens its doors for business, we will be able to help you book one of their fabulous rooms!
