Just Like Hemingway

Hemingway

Aug 17, 2012

A new line of hotels embodying the bohemian-chic essence of Ernest Hemingway's life is said to be opening this year. The world renowned author is celebrated for writing great works such as For Whom the Bell Tolls, A Farewell to Arms and The Old Man and the Sea.

The Hemingway Hotels & Resorts chain received consent from the novelist's family to use Ernest's name as the company's trademark. Staying true to the glamour and period design elements associated during Hemingway's prime, there are strict standards that each establishment is required to maintain. Location, architecture, and amenities all need to be representative of the author's being.

It has been reported that there will be resorts in Key West and Oak Park, Illinois (significant for being Hemingway's birthplace). Each hotel will cater to their guests' taste buds with gourmet restaurants spotlighting French, Spanish and Italian cuisine, and there will be a thoroughly stocked bar where people can enjoy top-shelf libations in an intimate setting. An establishment bearing Hemingway's name simply would not be complete without an extensive library, which will hold the author's novels amongst other classic literature selections.

Be on the lookout for more Hemingway Hotels and Resorts locations to come. Perhaps one will pop up in Spain, where the San Fermin running of the bulls festival inspired the novelist to write The Sun Also Rises. Should you decide to visit a destination responsible for moving Hemingway to create one of his great works, a car rental in Pamplona is the perfect way to explore the city and surrounding areas.
