With the gallant approval of Julia Roberts and a young toddler by the name of Leo, Da Michele Pizzeria in Naples has achieved distinction as one of the best pizzas in the world. While it may be difficult to decide on just one restaurant out of hundreds of thousands of options in the city, this Neapolitan pie, oozing with cheese and garnished with basil, takes first prize, according to most visitors who step into its cozy interior. When travelers drive their car rental in Italy at lunchtime, they should zip straight to this shop and order a pie for themselves.

Travel writer Dave Seminara brought his son Leo to the pizza joint on a Sunday morning, probably one of the only times of the week where the cafe is fairly quiet. The pair ordered a "breakfast" margherita pie, one of two types served at the no-frills pizzeria. The other, the Bianca, was a tempting second course for Seminara and his son, who cried in an outburst, “This pizza is outrageous!”

When visitors first step through the doors, they will be greeted with a large portrait of Julia Roberts taking a bite out of this prized cheesy goodness, taken from a scene in the film adaptation of "Eat Pray Love." However, their attention will quickly be drawn to the brick oven in plain sight, cooking up hundreds of pizzas a day for hungry Italians and visiting tourists who arrive by car rental in Naples.
