If visitors to Sydney want to receive a quick lesson in the history of the Harbor City, they can take their car rental in Australia to nearby attractions like the Museum of Sydney and the Australian Museum. However, for a deeper look inside this seaside city's past, travelers may want to visit one of the area's many historic landmarks, such as the Susannah Place Museum.

This particular attraction is not the typical museum, however. Susannah Place is actually a working-class English terrace that was built in 1844 by Irish immigrants in The Rocks, Sydney's historic district. Up until 1990, this residence was occupied by more than 100 families.

Today, the Susannah Place Museum is protected by the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales and open to anybody who wants to learn about the struggles of the city's working class. When travelers take their car rental in Sydney to the institution, they can walk through rooms that have been faithfully recreated to look just as they did when families resided in them during the 19th and 20th centuries.
