For fans of horse racing, there is no better time to reserve a
car rental in France than the month of May. That’s because The Great Paris Steeplechase is set to return to the city’s Hippodrome d’Auteuil on May 20.
Not only is the Steeplechase considered to be one of France’s biggest horse racing events, but it is also one of its most historic. This race was first held on May 25, 1874, although back then, it was known as the Grand National of France.
While the race has evolved quite a bit since its origins in the 1800s, the Steeplechase remains as challenging as ever. Today, participants must tackle 23 obstacles over a 3.5-mile course.
Before travelers take their
car rental in Paris to this event, they should know that the Steeplechase is considered to be one of the most intense races hosted at Hippodrome d’Auteuil due to the severity of the course. One of the most challenging aspects of the track is the rail ditch and fence that has received the nickname Justice of the Peace. To overcome this obstacle, horses must leap about 5 feet into the air.
