Every summer, the city of Cork prepares for a massive celebration of music, theater, dance, visual arts and more. The annual event, better known as the Cork Midsummer Festival, runs for 16 days through the streets of the metropolis, with world-class entertainers, outdoor extravaganzas, international artists and local talent. When travelers book a car rental in Ireland, they can drive virtually anywhere in Cork from June 21 to July 1 and stumble upon an exciting festival activity.

Over 20 venues in and around Cork participate in the much-anticipated event. Initiated in 1997 and now in its 16th year, the celebration aims to entertain guests of all ages. Children's storytellers, the world championship of street performances, festival markets with local food and fresh produce, artist exhibitions and unique theatrical productions are only some of the events that travelers can find at various theaters, music halls and venues around Cork.

On the warmest days of summer, vacationers can plan all of their activities outside, as the festival schedule is evenly dispersed between indoor and outdoor events. Places like the River Lee, Maldron and Metropole hotels are all situated in the center, so travelers can book a car rental in Cork and reserve a room at one of these refined establishments. Although the festival program has yet to be announced, it is sure to compete with the impressive lineups of years past.
