Anybody who wants to experience the thrills and chills of the Antarctic can throw on several layers of clothing and venture to the bottom of the world, or they could just take their car rental in New Zealand to the International Antarctic Centre.

Located in close proximity to the Christchurch International Airport, this icy attraction provides visitors with an opportunity to experience Antarctica in a controlled, indoor setting.

The Antarctic Centre is also home to administrative offices for the Antarctic programs of the U.S., Italy and New Zealand. However, this is not what has made the facility one of Christchurch’s most popular attractions.

Those who take their car rental in Christchurch to the Antarctic Centre can get to know some new friends at the New Zealand Penguin Encounter. The combination of indoor and outdoor viewing areas provides visitors with great views of little blue penguins that were rescued when they were younger and cared for ever since.

Then, there is the Snow & Ice Experience, which allows travelers to frolic in real snow and get caught up in an authentic Antarctic storm, which occurs every 30 minutes. The 4D EXTREME Theatre provides another interactive experience that combines a 3D film, seat vibration, water sprays and snow. Individuals may be sitting down, but they will feel as though they are on an Antarctic cruise.
