Children may not be as excited to go sightseeing in Spain as their parents, but there is a good chance they will be pretty excited when they step out of their
car rental in Barcelona and see Guëll Park. Thanks to architect Antoni Gaudí's imaginative designs, young travelers will feel as though they just stepped into a fairy tail.
What has become a popular park and tourist attraction was originally meant to be a residential garden village with around 60 housing units. However, by 1914 it became apparent that the project was a commercial failure. Just a few years after Barcelona acquired the rights to the property, they reintroduced the space as a public park in 1922.
Today, those who take their
car rental in Spain to the site can appreciate its unique architecture, such as the curvy and majestic staircase at the entrance of the park. As travelers walk up these steps, they will encounter a multicolored dragon sculpture, which is part of a fountain.
While a bench is usually not an attraction, it is when it happens to be the largest seat in the world. The snake-like Serpentine Bench twists around the park’s Gran Placa Circular, a space that was intended to be a marketplace for residents. From this area, visitors can also take in amazing views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea.
