Art lovers who have a car rental in Florence, Italy, are fortunate, as the Tuscan capital is brimming with historic works.

While travelers' first stop may be the famous Uffizi Gallery, home to works by such artists as Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli, they should also make time for a visit to the Gallery of the Academia di Belle Arti. Here, they will find one of the world’s most famous sculptures – Michelangelo’s David.

This marble masterpiece was created by the Italian artist between 1501 and 1504, and depicts the biblical hero known as David. Replicas of the statue do exist, and one can even be found standing in the Palazzo della Signoria. However, to appreciate the real thing, travelers need to take their car rental in Italy to the gallery.

Inside this institution, visitors can find some of Michelangelo’s other works, including an unfinished statue of Saint Matthew, as well as another incomplete piece that was intended for the tomb of Pope Julius II, titled Prisoners. The gallery is also home to a collection of Renaissance and gothic paintings from other Italian artists.
