Travelers may not get to see too many German films at the cinema back home, but when they have a
car rental in Australia they can see some of the best movies that Germany has to offer at the Audi Festival of German Films.
The event returns to Australia this April, and will hold screenings in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. For anybody visiting the Land Down Under, the festival provides an opportunity to see some of Germany’s latest releases. Ticket holders need not worry about brushing up on their German, as the movies all feature English subtitles.
Last year, more than 24,300 people attended the festival, which screened a total of 39 films. The selected movies were placed in one of three categories – German Currents, Retro 2001-2011 and Radical Docs. This gathering of cinephiles usually features opportunities for attendees to gain insight into the filmmakers’ creative processes through question and answer sessions.
If travelers will not be in Australia this April, but still want to see examples of German filmmaking, they may want to take their
car rental in Sydney to the city’s art house cinema, Dendy Opera Quays, and see what is playing.
