    Traveling from Florence to the Italian capital of Rome will take you through the center of the country, across the Apennine mountains towards the Mediterranean coast. To get to Rome from Florence, you'll want to travel along route A1. The drive will take about 3 hours, but will give you a more comfortable alternative to a tour bus or train.

    If you wish to go north into the Alp mountains, Turin is about 400 km from Florence. When you travel along the E70 and A1 routes, you can stop in Bologna along the way. Should you decide to visit the opposite side of the country along the beautiful canals of Venice, you can make the short journey of 277 km in less than 3 hours along route A13.

    For a short daytrip outside Florence, you can visit the Tuscan city of Siena. If you happen to be visiting Italy in the summertime around Florence, seeing the Palio di Siena, a world famous horse race, should be on your to-do list! The short journey from Florence to Siena will take just over an hour along the Raccordo Autostradale Firenze-Siena route. The city of Pisa is 92 km west from Florence, and when you travel along the SGC Firenze-Pisa route, you'll see the Leaning Tower of Pisa in just over an hour!
