I received charges from Hertz for sending my info to the police for parking in an area that I was told to park in by a restaurant owner. The information given is not the problem. Charging my credit card three times 30 euros for 3 violations in the same location is an obscene amount to just send my info.

I only have one issue w/ the delivered car. Gasoline tank was not full and was not intended to be. It was marked in the delivery papers as 3/4 . The problem is that when filling the tank I forgot and I returned the unit as usual in every rental , with full tank and somehow I wonder if this is a tricky move to the customer? Thanks .

1st car was smaller than the station wagon I reserved and had 70000 km and oil warning light was flashing...they switched me to another car that was very dirty and not full of gas

The car they gave me was much bigger than what I asked for and what the contract said. Also, the car had significant dents. The staff at the Maggiore was impatient and not particularly friendly. I have rented through Auto Europe in the past and it was very good, which is why I rented with them again. But this was not as good an experience as in the past.

Always use Europe car and have no problem with the upfront portion of the process.

The first car was dirty, and only had half a tank of gas. We also had a hard time finding the car on the street, there was a larger car blocking it in and we had to find the owner to move his car. We were told we should take the car and they would make a note about the gas. My husband stood his ground about the condition of the car and finally they gave us another car, also parked on the street. If you know Rome parking is very tight and it took us awhille to get out of the space. I have never been to a Eurocar that didnt have a car lot or that they got the car for us. Not a good begining to out driving in Italy.

FYI to look into, legislation effective as of Nov. 1, 2012 in (Italy/the northern provinces??) about mandatory snow chain equipment or snow tires.
