Everything was good and I was upgrades to a virtually Peugeot SW which was great. Collection with the prepaid voucher took almost an hour due to a long queue and very slow processing, which is the only negative. I could not grasp why this was so. Our only problem was with the GPS we rented. It sometimes took us on some crazy backroads[INVALID] we wondered if it had been updated. Maybe it is just the road system in Sicily.

It would be useful to be more specific about the auto's features such as the engine turns off when in neutral and stopped. Not a major concern but surprising. Also, as in the states, Hertz requires that the car be returned with a full tank else it charges for the fuel used on a pro rata basis. There are no gas stations between Erice and the Palermo airport (none at the airport either) at which to fill the tank. If I had know beforehand, I would have fueled the car in Erice.

More information about the car and a manual would be helpful. Otherwise, Hertz was efficient and quick.

They promised to be at the car-return point at 0700 but nobody came. I threw at 08.15 my key and papers in the box at the office and hope that they will handle carefully with the reservation (1500 euro) on my creditcard.

I should not have accepted the BMW wagon for driving in Sicily. It was way too big for anything but highways. In the cities it was nothing but a hassle. If I had thought about it, I would have asked for a compact.

Car was excellent, drop-off service was quick and friendly. The only problem was pick-up. As Europe Car represents you, as well as other companies and themselves as well, there was a queue of around 20 customers, and combned with the rather inefficient method employed by the employees who manned the desk, we had to wait one and-a-half hours until we recieved the car. After a long flight with children, and a very primitive shuttle system from the terminal to the rental area, this unecessary wait was annoying. This was the only blight on an otherwise excellent service
