Florence hertz was fine, however.......the return in Rome as a nightmare. Rental returns are not clearly marked. The office at the train station has different hours than the actual place that you return the car. Be prepared to drive around in circles for hours. The GPS does not actually lead you back to where you need to return the car. If you have other options than the Rome Train Station, please use that office instead!!!

They charged my credit card for $611 for the car rental. I paid AutoEurope $478 for the car rental. I dispute the charges and want the cost of the GPS rental waived as well. The GPS unit did not have the new rental car location at the airport in the address book. When we returned the car we drove in circles for 45 minutes at 5 in the morning trying to find where to return the car. We finally paid a cabbie to show us where it was and then drive us back to the airport. We nearly missed our return flight which would have completely screwed up all of our subsequent connecting flights.

We loved the quality and cleanliness of the car. The price was fair. The service was prompt except for a line at the Florence airport. The dropoff service in Bologna was great.

Had difficulty returning the car. No staff at AVIS office at the time of returning. Called and waited, but no one there. Left key at Hertz office nearby. Left note on car asking to be contacted back once key was picked up, but no reply. Had to call to AVIS Orvieto many times, till got to talk to AVIS staff. Called alos AVIS office both main number and Florence office, but not able to help.

Pick up was easy once I got to the area - the Florence airport is under construction so the process of picking up the car has changed every time in the last 3 years. Delivery in Bologna was a piece of cake. I think the staff is great in both places. And I think your website and phone staff are terrific. Thanks.

unfriendly and unhelpful. I did not want much besides a car, but being treated like I was asking for welfare was a bit difficult to take. And it was not just me ( As an American I became used to being treated poorly) everyone was treated poorly. What is so difficult with being nice anyway?

The signs to locate the rental car facilities for car return are majorly lacking. This is not just Hertz - we drove in circles for 30 minutes. There is basically one sign missing that would identify a key turn. We ended up going to the airport and following the shuttle driver because it was so bad - and there was another car behind us doing the same thing. This needs to be fixed.

When returning our car, the parking garage attendant instructed the Hertz car in front of us to back up. The driver of that Hertz rental car lost control and backed into us, causing damage to our car. Despite the other driver admitting fault, and multiple witnesses, Hertz insisted on charging me for the damages to my rental car [INVALID] over $1000. Hertz has not helped to resolve this issue.

Florence pick up was easy,however drop off in Rome was a little more tricky. The drop off point was harder to find and very congested.The directions could have been better provided. Overall it was a good experience and the online system was good. I most certainly use Auto Europe again Thank you.

We arrived by train. Called Maggiore for help in finding shuttle to airport and they were not very helpful. Ended up taking a taxi. While the map they furnished was a good map of Italy, I would recommend they make available a map of the local area, especially to help us get out of the airport area.
