I was completely satisfied with AutoEurope and was glad to prepay for a very good rate. Dealing with Avis was another story.
About the service from the local car rental company - AVIS
I was extremely dissatisfied with Avis. They changed their Pecs, Hungary location, but had no signage at all on the street, building or inside. I miraculously found them at an unmarked, shared desk in the back of a car dealer showroom. The young woman knew no English, was inexperienced and needed someone else to handle most of it. My car was nice, though it was a different category than what I reserved.
No one was at the Budapest Airport Avis return office. I nearly missed my deadline by the time the guy showed up. He tried to charge me another $100, conflicting with my prepaid AutoEurope contract. Avis refused to call AutoEurope, and eventually waived the charge.
