About the service from the local car rental company - THRIFTY
They were friendly and helpful, and they met us at the airport to take us to their location. There were some extended wait times when we arrived and also when we returned the car, but not anything unexpected from this part of the world. They did not provide us with very good information regarding the tolls on the highway system.

Cars parked outside. We had to find the car in the pouring rain on our own. We had the lot better service with Thrifty in Budapest.

I wish I had known that there was going to be a 20% tax on the 500 Euro one way fee that we paid. Please communicate that to potential renters. Also, please more fully explain how to buy vignettes for your window when traveling on European highways. We were told to buy one "at the border", but there are no longer border crossing guards at the borders we crossed and we didn't figure out how to buy one and then ended up getting fined 120 Euros for not having one. Our vehicle was great. I wish, however, that they would have had a mini-van available because we had 6 people, which was too many for any available car, but we didn't really need all the space we paid for in a 9-passenger van.

I have been promised, in writing, that I will have a rental car with an integrated GPS; instead I was provided with a portable GPS and to make things worse the cable provided was not functional. Therefore, I had to use other means to navigate/

It is only a perception; however, I feel that the reason I was provided with a bad GPS was because I indicated I will be traveling to Romania.

everything was wrong with them, firstly I had to phone twice to get someone to meet me at the airport, then at the end of the rental they charged me an additional 38 euros for nothing. They said that it was because I crossed the border into Slovakia, but this I have never heard of before. From Germany to Hugnary yes, but not from Hungary to Slovakia. They never told me that there would be extra charges. Then I asked them to put back the 500 euros guarantee on hold and they refused to do this, they said that it would come off in time. NEVER USE THRIFTY AGAIN IN HUNGARY !!!!!!

I was met at the gate by a car rental representative who escorted us to the shuttle to the office. The folks there were very helpful and they allowed us to return the car at the downtown office with no additional charge.
