I arrived in Frankfurt after a trans-Atlantic flight with a toddler. After I had picked up the keys for the car, I received the child safety seat. I asked for help to install the seat, but was told that I had to do this by myself for liability reasons. If you rent a car with a child seat, I would expect this seat to be installed. It is completely unacceptable to be standing next to a new car with a new seat trying to figure out how to get the thing in the car!!!!!

Things were fine-- I knew what I was getting into before I arrived... the bill wasn't a surprise. In all, a fine experience.

My biggest beef was the absurd winter charge for "special tires" to meet the road conditions. What a bunch of nonsense... I'm a 46 year old man who has owned lots of cars over the years... meaning I've bought lots of tires. There was NOTHING special about the tires on the car I rented; they were standard all-season radials. (I checked them out.) Nevertheless, Avis popped on a pretty large surcharge for these, and to be honest it seemed like a gimmick just to jack up the rental price. I don't like b.s. -- and there's no other way to say it: this was b.s.!

It was a fast check out in the airport of Frankfurt. Clerk was english speaking and, different from my experience in USA where I live, I was demanded not only all identification, but print outs of the reservation, despite that all was done online and I believe they already had all my information, etc. and that is when I started getting used to their style..."next time you should print everything"..
