Procession of St. Stanislaus

This religious festival is held in Krakow on the first Sunday after May 8. It is held in honor of Bishop Stanislaus who was killed by order of King Bolesław in 1079. The cardinals and bishops of Poland all gather together and carry relics of saints, banners and other religious symbols from the burial place of St. Stanislaus, Wawel Cathedral, to the place of his demise, Skałka. People from all over Poland travel to Krakow to participate in this event.
