Homes, restaurants and bakeries all over Iceland love to treat people to cream puffs on Bolludagur, or Buns Day. Sometimes there are variations on the buns, but traditionally you eat a light pastry with a dairy based cream filling. Sounds delicious!

Alcohol in Iceland was not made legal until 1989, so the locals really enjoy celebrating on Beer Day. Bars stay open extra late, allowing patrons to crawl along till four in the morning!

First Day of Summer

The first day of summer is a large event in Iceland due to the fact that the country has been blanketed in darkness for what feels like an eternity. It's not actually held on the first official day of summer, but rather the first Thursday after April 18th. To celebrate the reappearance of the sun, there are parades, carnivals, and many other forms of entertainment in nearly every town and city. What a great time to visit!

After a long winter at sea, Puffins return to their summer home on small islands off the coast of Iceland. Puffins come to this area to construct a nest, and end up providing entertainment to hundreds of nature lovers. Boats offer tours all around the island extending visitors great views of millions of puffins, orcas, and whales. This activity is definitely a must-see when visiting this beautiful country!
