The Nice Carnival is one of the most popular and celebratory festivals on the French Rivera. For more than two weeks, the streets of Nice will be full of lively parades, and intense partying. This year’s theme will be centered on the “King of Planet Earth,” a character portrayed in the form of a papier mâché figurine float about the city in various parades. The event concludes with a ceremonial burning of the constructed procession floats, and the “King” is taken to the beach to be set ablaze. This festival has something for the whole family, and is a main reason why millions of people visit France each year.
