Winter Carnival

If you are in Québec at the beginning of February, you must go to the Winter Carnival. The largest snow festival in the world, it’s a great way to add some cheer to the coldest, darkest days of winter. There are snow sculpture competitions all over the city, as well as parades, soapbox races, and a FREE western-style breakfast. For those feeling crazy, you can even take a snow bath in your bathing suit! It truly is great fun for the whole family, and really warms up a very bleak time of year!

Winterlude

Winterlude is North America’s largest winter festival, and features the World’s largest skating rink, which stretches almost 8 km. This frozen pond is the focal point of the celebration, and hosts numerous live performances by artists on ice skates! Stroll through the Snowflake Kingdom, which has more than 30 giant snow slides carved into images of fairytale characters, or watch some classic sledge hockey, and a public ice-block-carving competition. This is a fabulous family outing, as a lot of the entertainment is focused on a younger audience, and if you don't mind the cold, this festival will be the perfect getaway!

ESP Psychic Expo

The Exposition of the Paranormal in Mississauga will feature magic, people with ESP and Psychic Power, as well as lectures on Astrology. There are plenty of vendors here to provide you with your yearly supply of crystals, jewelry, stones, and whatever else you may need for proper channeling. This gathering of minds will also have booths dedicated to natural healing, including alignment, Reiki, massage, and aroma therapy. It should be a good time, as long as you don’t think bad thoughts about any of the mind readers.

The Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre will play host to the annual Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival, the premier wine event in Canada. There will be hundreds of wines on display and available for tasting during this impressive festival. Many of the cities fine restaurants and business will be participating in this event, so it will be a great chance to experience the food of the city, which is delicious. Even if you don’t know enough about wine to be an expert, there are seminars available through out the local establishments.
