The Dakar Rally

Over 400 drivers compete against each other in a devastating 15 day race over thousands of miles between Portugal and Senegal. There are drivers from 24 different countries in a variety of vehicle types from motorbikes, dune buggies, 4x vehicles and quad bikes.

Take to the streets with the locals for the annual celebration of Madeira's Carnival. There are parades, music, floats and dancing in the streets.

Lisbon Half Marathon

This annual event has been running since 1990 and is the first of two half marathons held in Lisbon each year. This race starts on the south side in Almada and ends in Belém.

Portugal Hot Air Balloon Transcrossing

This is the seventh annual hot air balloon transcrossing as 25 teams from around the world compete in this event. This event starts at Vila Pouca de Aguiar and eventually finishes in Loulé in the Algarve.

CCB Music Festival

This annual music festival is held at Belem Cultural Centre in Lisbon and features more then 130 performances on seven different stages. This three day event will have performances from choirs, vocalists, soloists and large baroque orchestras.

The annual Algarve Film Festival is Portugal's oldest cinema event and dates back to 1972. The festival is held in the Algarve town of Portimão, but also has regional screenings available in Lagos, Alvor, Monchique and Faro to name a few.

Rock in Rio - Lisboa

Due to the tours great success in Brazil, Rock Rio made its way Lisbon in 2004 and comes back every other year to Bela Vista Park. Lenny Kravitz is one of the great artists on the bill for this years show.
