Events for 2008Shanties: Krakow International Sailors' Song Festival
Krakow is host to this international Sailors' Song Festival, despite being land-locked. The event is a celebration of all forms of nautical song and poetry and features concerts of sea songs, ballads and shanties at venues throughout the city of Krakow. This festival is a celebration of both, the great composer, Ludwig van Beethoven and also wealth of classical music that has come to be in the 200 years since his heyday. This is a great event for any opera enthusiast and is held at the Warsaw Chamber Opera House. The Warsaw Chamber Opera has been in existence since 1961 and performs a wide variety of Baroque, Classical and Contemporary music. J & S Cup
The annual international J & S Cup tournament is part of the WTA series and is held annually at the Warszawianka Tennis Centre in Warsaw. This event attracts some of the world's top women tennis players as they compete for the title along with prize money around $600,000. Sense of Humor Festival
Gdansk's Sense of Humor Festival features Polish TV's best comedies, from sit-coms and talk shows to series and musical variety. The price of Charlie's Blue Bowler is given to the best comedy. The event also features live performances at venues around town and in the streets. |
