Xochimilco Festival of the Prettiest Flower The festival for La Flor Mas Bella is a longstanding tradition to celebrate and give thanks to the goddesses of dance and flowers in hopes for a good harvest season. Local women are beautifully dressed and adorned with flowers while they compete for the title of Prettiest Flower.
Cinco de Mayo in Puebla This day is a truly special event for the city of Puebla. The famous Battle of Puebla is reenacted every year. You can watch the Mexican forces repel Imperial French forces. Once the reenacted battle is complete, the real party begins. The festivities include dance, food, drink, and bullfighting. You will want to stay for the fireworks display that is sure to delight visitors from miles around.
Day of the Mules This special holiday has roots dating back to the 16th century. It takes place after the Day of Holy Trinity, and is a procession that involves local children in traditional clothing carrying hand crafted wooden mules. Craftsmen from all over Mexico make their way to this event laden with crafts and harvest fruits to give thanks. Live music is heard all over the land while special vendimia wine served to visitors. |
