Santa takes a back seat in Iceland, where instead 13 Yule Lads visit the country a few weeks before Christmas. Traditionally each lad represnts an unfortunate happening, such as Pot-Scraper, who steals leftovers. Nowadays, they bring treats to good children. Events commemorating this traditional belief can be found throughout Iceland.
