Witches Night Each year Witches' Night is celebrated on April 30th. Whatever city you are in, look for the nearest hill and you should see an effigy of a hag or witch that will eventually be burnt. Its grown in popularity over the years, and is now a main attraction, especially in Prague, at the top of Petrin Hill. What a way to end the winter!
World Festival of Puppet Art Puppeteers have sure evolved over the years, and the city of Prague hosts this fun entertaining festival each May for them to show off their skills. There are full scale productions, activities, and even awards are given in several categories. If you have ever had any interest in this kind of art form, this event is for you!
Czech Beer Festival Seventeen days of alcohol and food enthusiasm is celebrated during the 3rd annual Czech Beer Festival. Sample from over 50 different varieties of Czech beer, produced by breweries from all over the country. Theres even an opportunity to try the newest beers, which will be premiered here for the first time. The finest Czech food is made by the best bakers, butchers, and chefs in the region, and will be served to you by the locals, dressed completely in traditional costume. With Free Admittance, and seating for more then 10,000, this festival is definitely worth the trip!
Zlin Film Festival For nearly 50 years, Zlín has been regarded as the world capital of childrens Film, and this festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world. Many of the films themselves are produced in Zlin, and there is a strong connection and sense of pride in the towns people. Films of all kinds, including live action, cartoon, stop motion, and puppeteer are shown here, and will no doubt continue to entertain and inspire children all around the country. |
