Maybe you’ve always done the same thing for Halloween. You’ve done the passing out candy thing, the friends party thing, the bar thing and while it’s fun, you need a change. When you’re looking to take your Halloween celebration to the next level, consider a trip to any of these destinations. They are all unique, and should offer a good time, witchever one you choose.

Fun Places to Celebrate Halloween

    • Salem, Massachusetts
      Salem is one of the most historically rich and interesting places to celebrate Halloween in the Unites States. No where else is a city’s dark history such a draw as it is in Salem. Of the many tours and attractions, the Witch Trial Trail is one of the most interesting. You won’t want to miss out on the Annual Costume Ball held at the Hawthorne Hotel.

 

    • Keene, New Hampshire
      Cool Places to Celebrate HalloweenThe Keene Pumpkin Festival has been held each year around Halloween since 1991. The residents of the city and surrounding areas attempt to create the largest collection of lit jack-o-lanterns in the world. They held the world record of 28,952 pumpkins for three years before losing out to Boston and keep trying to get the record back each year. Other festivities include, but are not limited to, food and hot cider vendors, live music, and a fireworks display. Definitely worth checking out.

 

    • New Orleans, Louisiana
      New Orleans is a great place to party on most days of the year, but for large holidays like Halloween, the Big Easy is one of the best places to be. If you’ve never been, prepare yourself for some off the wall fun. Take a voodoo tour and come face to face with interesting artifacts and authentic temples where ancient rituals are still practiced. Hire a guide and explore some of the local cemeteries which are filled with above ground tombs. If those aren’t the spirits you’re looking for, New Orleans also has ample parades and celebrations, and of course the bars are open for business and packed to capacity.

 

    • Greenwich Village, New York
      For the past 39 years Greenwich Village in New York City has held an amazingly creative Halloween party/parade, and this year is no different. It’s hard to explain just how crazy this party gets if you haven’t seen it for yourself. From flash mobs of zombies doing the Thriller dance, to gigantic spiders crawling up sky scrapers, to just about any ghoulish or funny costume you can imagine, Greenwich Village is a Halloween celebration you won’t want to miss.

 

  • Orlando, Florida
    For 20 years, Universal Studios has been putting on a celebration known as Halloween Horror Nights. It contains a plethora of spook haunted houses and incredible live shows. You will find yourself running from hordes of the undead, scary mutants and monsters as you attend the many various events. It’s not for the faint of heart, and parents are encouraged to leave the children at home. Speaking of children, the perfect event for them can be found at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which is a special themed event that takes place in October. It features parades, trick-or-treating and more.
