If you’re one of the six million people who plan on traveling to Munich to celebrate the world’s largest beer festival, now is the time to confirm your travel accommodations because space is becoming limited!
Oktoberfest, the world’s largest fair, is held every year at a site called the Theresinewiese (field of Therese), which is near the center of Munich. This spacious setting is surrounded by beautiful Bavarian architecture, and is easily accessible by a car rental in Munich via the Bavariaring; an orbital road that encircles the venue.
Oktoberfest 2010 is being described as the largest gathering yet, and will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the festival! In celebration of this bicentennial event, the organizers have extended the typically 16 day festival to 18 days FULL of activities. The commencement ceremony is to take place on September 17th, when the Major of Munich taps into the first keg of beer, and then festivities will wrap up on October 4th, a day later than usual.
As always, Oktoberfest promises to be filled to the brim with hearty foods and massive amounts of beverages (gallons of almost every ale you can think of), and all is to be served by traditionally clad German locals. Not only does this event offer plenty to keep the adults entertained, but they have TONS of carnival activities and games for the kids too!
Wish to save yourself a seat before you go? No problem! Many of the beer tents have call ahead seating so you won’t have to miss out on what they have to offer; especially with the throngs of people they are anticipating this year.
Auto Europe congratulates the success of 200 Oktoberfest celebrations, and hopes that all attendees have a safe and wonderful experience at Oktoberfest 2010.
