We can’t think of anything more valuable (not to mention convenient) than having the freedom to drive a vehicle to and from the grocery store, into another state for a music festival, or even on a cross-country road trip with the family.
Regardless of what country you’re traveling in, the irrevocable truth will always be that driving a car is a privilege which shouldn’t be taken for granted or underestimated in anyway. Especially when traveling in an unfamiliar territory, like a foreign country for example.
So what are the most important rules of the road? A few that we feel are always the most important to remember are:
*Seat belts: They should always be worn, even if it’s not mandated by law. Why not be as safe as you can with the resources already provided in the car for you?
*Drunk Driving: This seems like a pretty simple concept to live by, yet one of the most fatal choices that unfortunately many people make everyday. Play it safe; don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking alcohol. Period.
*Understanding the road signs: This seems like an obvious, but I’ve heard a number of stories of travelers mistaking foreign signs for something completely opposite of what they stand for. In the Resources section of our website you will find important country specific travel guide information. Do your research! No matter where you’re going, there is no such thing as being too prepared for a road trip.
What other ‘road rules’ would you add to the list?
