Who is Anthony Bourdain?
Anthony Bourdain is a chef, author, and television host on the Travel Channel. After cooking for years in many restaurants across America, he wrote a book called Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. Kitchen Confedential is a behind-the-scenes look at the goings on in many of the places he worked, providing a unique perspective at the culinary industry. It was a huge success and garnered him a large following not just in the foodie world, but in the literary world as well.
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations has been on the air since 2005, and it is one of the most popular and best travel shows ever. If you haven’t seen it, it’s absolutely worth checking out, especially if he has done a show on a location you plan on visiting. He has a unique approach to television that not only manages to showcase an area with a down to earth approach, but also explores cities in an unconventional manner. You might see him hanging out at a popular restaurant trying local interesting cuisine in one segment and flying in a Russian fighter jet the next. After over 120 episodes of No Reservations, Bourdain has decided to change things up with a new show that will premiere on November 21st called The Layover.
What is Anthony Bourdain’s Layover?
The Layover is an interesting concept for a show and one that we are looking forward to here at Auto Europe. It’s essentially Anthony Bourdain making the most of a city in 24-48 hours as if he were the victim of a rescheduled flight. He will be chatting with locals, exploring new areas, and revealing insider travel tips for each city. Sounds like it could be helpful. Here’s a quote from the press release:
“’The Layover’ is a fast, busy and content-filled hour,” comments Bourdain. “We go to spots that I personally think are cool and fun for all budgets. In every case, these are places where I either did go, or would visit even when the cameras are off. ‘The Layover’ is a reflection of what I’ve learned over time. It’s about telling a story that viewers can recreate themselves.”
When does the Anthony Bourdain’s Layover air?
Some of the cities that are scheduled for layovers right now include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Rome, Montreal, and Amsterdam. It’s first official airing will be on November 21st at 9pm so check your local TV listings to see if you have the Travel Channel!
